On 4 February 2026, SeaPower organised a workshop dedicated to energetic materials for civil and defence applications at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Coimbra, as part of the NITROTEC Project (COMPETE2030-FEDER-02225700). The main objective of the event was to promote networking and knowledge sharing among participants.

The workshop brought together international experts, researchers and various entities from the innovation ecosystem, providing a day entirely dedicated to collaboration and technological development.

Throughout the session, various approaches related to the applications of cellulose and nitrocellulose were presented and discussed. The topics covered different perspectives, from the crystalline structure of nitrocellulose to the accessibility and reactivity of cellulose for the production of cellulose derivatives, including the production of nitrocellulose.

This meeting provided a privileged space for the presentation of scientific advances, the analysis of current challenges and the identification of opportunities for cooperation in strategic areas for the future.

As part of the same event, on 5 February, SeaPower, together with the other partners of the NITROTEC Project - ADAI, OptimalDefense, the University of Coimbra and the Portuguese Navy - conducted a technical visit to the RAIZ facilities in Aveiro.

The initiative also included the participation of renowned experts in technical and scientific fields.
